Our History
Located on Texarkana Street in Houston, Texas, our church was started
around 1941 and was known as Houston #2 Church of God. Before long,
the congregation outgrew their building and moved just a few blocks away
to Harbor Street. While there, the name of the church was changed to
Harbor Street Church of God. In 1958, the congregation sold baked
pies to pay for the brick on the outside of the building, sheetrock the
inside, carpet and install air conditioning. In the early 1970s, we
purchased the land that our church sits on today at 846 Ashland in
Channelview. At that time, the church changed it's name to
Woodforest Church of God and later to Woodforest Worship Center.
After
Pastor and Diana ("Lady Di") Taylor arrived in 1990, they led the
congregation in a building program and expanded our property when they
built what we now know as Victory Center, a multi-functional building with
gym, kitchen, classrooms and evangelist quarters. The church name
was also changed to Victory Temple.
In May
2007, God blessed us as we were able to burn the note on the property.
He has also opened doors to purchase more property with an existing
building which will allow us to expand our borders.
